Once last week and already once this week I called someone (or vice versa) about something material and mundane. Yet before I had hung up, I had encountered the Lord!
I was looking for a DVD for our Thursday Kids' Group and could not find it. Thinking that one of the kids had put it away somewhere, I called his aunt thinking that she was babysitting the young boy that day. It turned out that she was not babysitting. However, out of that mis-directed call came a powerful conversation that caused me to literally begin praying in the Holy Spirit for an hour a day since!
This morning, someone from another congregation called thinking that they had dialed their church to ask about someone who was in the hospital. We laughed about the mix up and then the person began telling me about a book they had just finished about "hearing from God". This person then told me of another conference or small group where the theme had again been "hearing from God." What that person did not know was that I was drafting a book about "hearing from God".
Whether my book ever gets published or not, I thought it strange, interesting, and exciting that this mis-directed call ended up encouraging me to complete the work. It seems that we are in a time when God needs His people to know how to hear His voice.
I wonder how many "mis-directed" calls God might have out there for us. There is a message from Him in every one. Let's listen between the lines. Let's be friendly and see where some of our converstations go.
Blessings,
Father Scott +
